Database Administrator Expert

Job Description:

  • Our team seeks an experienced Database Administrator with a strong background in SQL Server architecture, installation, configuration, and management.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent hands-on experience installing, configuring, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting SQL 2005 - SQL 2022.
  • Key responsibilities include upgrading/migrating SQL Server from older (SQL 2005) to newer (till SQL 2022), configuring linked servers between same/different SQL Server versions, and setting up contained databases for effective migrations.
  • The successful candidate will also configure recovery models, design backup strategies, fine-tune backups using encryption, compression, and special parameters, handle master, model, MSDB, TEMPDB, and resource database corruptions, and configure HADR like log shipping, mirroring, clustering, always-on AG, and replication.
  • Apart from these core responsibilities, the Database Administrator will also possess hands-on knowledge on Windows cluster, quorum, dynamic quorum, voting mechanism, failovers through cluster administrator and commands.
  • The individual should be able to configure always-on AG on standalone instances across Windows cluster in synchronous mode and asynchronous mode, handle advanced always-on AG scenarios like failover, adding new data/log files, understanding of lease timeout, health check timeout, and failure condition level parameters, configuring read-only routing, listeners, and backup configurations.
  • They will also administer and configure HA/DR solutions – clustering, always-on group etc., manage all types of replications and troubleshoot, perform patch management, always on AG scenarios – failover, server capacity monitoring, analysis, and tuning activities, and automation using scripts and tools in the area of backup, monitoring, resource utilization, HA alerts, capacity plan management, and SQL Server tuning.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge on SQL Server architecture, parameters, T-SQL, triggers, and procedures.
  • Hands-on experience in SQL Server installations, configurations, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Expertise in configuring linked servers, contained databases, recovery models, and backup strategies.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting SQL Server issues, handling corruptions, and managing backups.
  • Knowledge on Windows cluster, quorum, dynamic quorum, voting mechanism, and failovers.
  • Ability to configure always-on AG, HADR, replication, and other advanced features.
  • Experience in administering and configuring HA/DR solutions, managing replications, and performing patch management.
  • Skills in server capacity monitoring, analysis, and tuning, automation using scripts and tools, and SQL Server tuning.
