Lead Ocean Freight Operations

We are seeking a seasoned professional to oversee our ocean freight operations in India. You will be responsible for building and scaling our product vertical, managing a significant profit and loss statement, and leading a team of experts.

This is a build-and-scale mandate, where you'll shape procurement strategy, pricing, carrier partnerships, and commercial operations from the ground up. You will develop and maintain relations with ocean carrier partners, design products, manage yield, and procure competitive market rates.

  • Manage a large diverse team of leaders who will execute Global Carrier Strategy and Development on Regional Trade Carrier Strategy.
  • Actively support sales and marketing organization with market information, sales leads, and joint sales visits.
  • Educate teams with trade-specific market knowledge and trade idiosyncrasies.
  • Administer overall pricing strategy for all fixed and spot business, tracking metrics such as conversion and take rate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop scalable air freight solutions to support unique verticals and segments.
  • Negotiate contracts, fixed allocations, and potentially BSA's, monitoring utilization of capacity.
  • Administer quality management with IN- US Export carriers driving on-time performance and milestone timeliness.

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of prior Ocean Freight experience at a top freight forwarder or carrier or 15+ years of supply chain experience and a BA/BS Degree;
  • Strategic vision and ground floor execution;
  • Bias to Action, Process, Structure and Data;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills;
  • An obsession with client happiness.
