**Import Operations Manager Role Overview**

Our Import Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the import ocean freight operations, ensuring timely cargo clearance and delivery while maintaining high standards of customer service.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Lead and manage the import ocean freight team to achieve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop pricing strategies, negotiate rates with carriers, and build strong relationships with shipping lines and overseas agents.
  • Oversee pre-alerts, booking coordination, documentation, customs compliance, and end-to-end import shipment handling.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure smooth cargo clearance and delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all local and international import regulations, customs laws, and trade compliance requirements.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures to enhance import process efficiency and accuracy.
  • Manage and mentor the import operations team, allocating resources, setting key performance indicators, monitoring performance, and providing ongoing training.
  • Monitor departmental profitability and ensure cost control.
  • Collaborate with sales and business development teams to identify new opportunities and grow the import customer base.

**Required Skills & Qualifications:**

  • Strong knowledge of international import practices, customs clearance procedures, documentation, and INCOTERMS.
  • Excellent leadership, people management, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
