Geologist - Interpretation Lead

About the Role:

The Geologist – Interpretation Lead is accountable for performing comprehensive integrated interpretation of available geo-science data, developing a robust geological model, and creating multiple development scenarios. They will provide technical expertise to support the Business Unit and contribute to implementing the Business Plan with input to planning and geo-steering of horizontal wells.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Review stratigraphic/coal seam correlations, structural interpretation, and quality control of various geological & seam parameter maps.
  • Build static geo-cellular models incorporating available field data.
  • Estimate volumetrics in multiple cases capturing range of uncertainties.
  • Quality control map-based and model-based OGIIP estimations.
  • Generate alternate development scenarios w.r.t well type, spacing, etc.
  • Review geological prognosis & well trajectories for development drilling.
  • Support Ops Geology team during geo-steering/drilling operations and provide operational decisions as required.
  • Provide technical inputs for business development plans.
  • Plan and acquire geological data to bridge data gaps and reduce uncertainty through enhanced field understanding.
  • Support pre- and post-drill geo-mechanical analysis.
  • Support RE team during dynamic simulation.
  • Quality control onsite and lab measurements on cores for coal characterization.
  • Evaluate CBM data packages from regulatory bodies/prospective sellers for block acquisition/farming-in.
  • Review and quality control subsurface deliverables from third-party/SME studies.
  • Generate integrated subsurface descriptions and risk/uncertainty matrices.
  • Cross-functional communication with Projects, FC&A, P&C, D&C teams for all planning and execution related to Operations and Development.
  • Review Scope of Works and Technical Evaluation/recommendations for procuring materials/services of Sub-surface.

Requirements:

M.Sc / M.Tech or PhD in Geology. Minimum 8-12 years relevant experience in industry working on interpretation, geo-modelling, well planning, and operations.
