Key Challenges Facing a Windchill System Administrator

A system administrator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance and uptime of our Windchill PLM system. This requires extensive knowledge of Windchill architecture, modules, and functionalities.

Responsibilities include administering and maintaining the Windchill system, performing upgrades and migrations, configuring and customizing Windchill according to business requirements, managing user accounts, permissions, and security settings, providing technical support and training, collaborating with IT and engineering teams for integration, developing documentation related to configurations, processes, and procedures, and implementing best practices for data management and system security.

Technical Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • At least three years of experience as a Windchill System Administrator or similar role are necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of Windchill architecture, modules, and functionalities is essential.
  • Experience with Windchill configuration, customization, and integration is also crucial.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as JavaScript and Python, as well as SQL, is necessary.
  • Familiarity with PLM best practices and data management principles is vital.
  • Experience deploying or managing Windchill in AWS is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Linux administration and shell scripting is also beneficial.
