Job Title: Gynecologist
The Role of a Gynecologist

A Gynecologist plays a crucial role in women’s healthcare, dealing with all aspects related to female reproductive health.


Responsibilities:
  • To take care of In-Patient Department (IPD) patients and ensure they receive proper medical attention.
  • Start the day by finishing IPD and Operation Theatre (OT) work.
  • Begin the OPD schedule.
  • Consult and counsel patients in OPD.
  • Perform IUI and Sonography procedures.
  • Prescribe medication and requisition necessary supplies.
  • Take rounds with Assistant Doctor IPD and sisters in the morning and evening, ensuring patient care is up to par.
  • Complete patient files.
  • Verify daily orders written by Assistant Doctors in IPD.
  • Check on parameters and investigations done.
  • Review monitoring charts.
  • Examine IPD and OT consents for newly admitted patients.
  • Advise on further investigation if needed and inform patients accordingly.
  • Ask patients about any complaints and take corrective actions.
  • Take an evening round with sisters in IPD.
  • Conduct operative procedures such as OPU, ET, and Hysteroscopy.
  • Ensure that scheduled operative procedures are conducted on time.
  • Verify that pre-operative preparation is completed by OT sisters according to the Pre-Op Checklist.
  • Assist or conduct OT wash-up.
  • Enter anesthesia notes.
  • Write down OT notes.
  • Provide post-operative orders to assistant doctors.
  • Conduct a post-op round immediately after transferring the patient and ensure that IPD sisters follow post-op orders.
  • Offer post-op counseling to patient relatives.
  • Ensure software entries record post-op findings by sisters and assistant doctors.
  • Determine discharge and have RMO prepare discharge papers.
  • Verify documentation for IPD papers by assistant doctors and sisters, following the checklist and handing over the file to HR.
  • Attend various types of emergencies and seek senior gynecologist assistance in case of complications.
  • Participate in camps and outreach OPDs.
  • Maintain control and monitor all clinical staff members.
