As a seasoned professional, we're seeking an exceptional Database Administrator to spearhead our database strategy and drive optimal performance, security, and availability. Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, monitor, and optimize production and staging databases to ensure seamless operation.
  • Implement high-availability strategies, backups, restores, replication, and disaster recovery procedures to minimize downtime.
  • Evaluate and implement solutions to enhance database performance, meeting service-level agreements across cloud and hybrid environments.
AWS Cloud Expertise:
  • Manage RDS, Aurora, and EC2-hosted database instances to guarantee optimal performance and scalability.
  • Analyze database performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and third-party tools to identify areas for improvement.
Data Architecture & Design:
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design and optimize new database schemas, indexes, and queries.
  • Develop and enforce best practices in database normalization, partitioning, and data lifecycle management to ensure data integrity.
Security & Compliance:
  • Ensure robust encryption, access controls, and audit logging are implemented and compliant with company policies.
  • Support GDPR/SOC 2/ISO 27001 initiatives by implementing appropriate database controls and evidence collection.
Collaboration & Mentoring:
  • Provide expert guidance to developers and DevOps teams during code reviews and deployments.
  • Share knowledge, mentor junior DBAs, and improve documentation and internal tooling to foster a culture of excellence.

Required skills and experience include 10+ years of DBA experience, including at least 5+ years with MSSQL Server (SQL Agent, SSIS, performance tuning) and 5+ years with PostgreSQL (query optimization, extensions, logical replication). Strong hands-on experience with AWS database services: RDS, Aurora, S3, and IAM integration is also essential. A solid understanding of SQL query optimization, execution plans, and troubleshooting slow queries is crucial. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation using tools like Terraform or Ansible is a plus.
