We are seeking an experienced Property Accountant to join our accounting department's support team. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in property accounting and a strong understanding of financial operations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain an 8-10 property portfolio with various owners, ensuring accurate and effective financial management.
  2. Coordinate with accounts payable specialists for invoice authorization and payment processing twice a week.
  3. Review monthly deposits and prepare financial statements.
  4. Prepare audit and tax schedules as required by regulatory bodies.
  5. Generate Excel schedules for EDM financials per owner requirements.
  6. Produce year-end and month-end reports for each property, providing valuable insights into financial performance.
  7. Make and record miscellaneous deposits, ensuring timely and accurate financial recording.
  8. Prepare and record all monthly journal entries (averaging 10+ per property per month).
  9. Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger monthly via workbook.
  10. Issue stop payments when necessary, maintaining cash flow efficiency.
  11. Monitor cash balances and reconcile intercompany accounts.
  12. Maintain weekly bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts.
  13. Initiate monthly wires for mortgages and reimbursements.
  14. Maintain accounting files as needed within the department.
  15. Process unclaimed property funds to state authorities.
  16. Complete monthly cycles (dependent on assigned properties).

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with QuickBooks, Yardi, Xero, or other accounting software.
  • Working experience with offshore accounting, with knowledge of international financial regulations.
