Job Description

The Product Design Specialist will be responsible for conducting design for manufacturability (DFM) analysis in printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) and fabrication analysis in printed circuit boards (PCBs). The role requires analyzing testability, generating defect-free manufacturing (DFT) reports, simulating mechanical assembly processes, and creating design for assembly (DFA) reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct DFM analysis in PCBA and fabrication analysis in PCBs
  • Analysis of testability and generate DFT report Simulation of mechanical assembly process and create DFA report Creating DFx procedure and checklist as per customer requirements Generating DFx reports according to findings and observations
  • Work with customers and internal manufacturing teams to define DFx requirements and rules Ensure adherence to targets set for all Process Metrics Ensure timely generation and circulation of DFx Reports to stakeholders
  • Mentor the team and guide them towards effective deliverables Train new and existing team members on relevant software and tools Perform root cause analysis to expedite the resolution of service issues Prepare Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Reports for Weekly/Monthly operation reviews
  • Skilled in PCBA processes, such as stencil printing, solder paste application, surface mount technology (SMT), wave soldering, and assembly. Should have very good knowledge of IPC standards Knowledge in PCB fabrication processes, PCB layers, PCB design, and electronics component packages
  • Able to define DFx procedures and checklists Knowledge in PCBA Test development processes, such as in-circuit testing (ICT), functional circuit testing (FCT), and flying probe testing
  • Knowledge in DFx tools and hands-on experience in DFM module software, such as VayoPro, Valor NPI, and SolidWorks Able to design 3D products and simulate product assembly processes
  • Aptitude to work with multi-functional teams to define requirements and suitable metrics for the performance of new products and processes Knowledge and direct experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) operations and manufacturing engineering Able to perform root cause analysis and resolve problems Experience with Continuous Process Improvement, Kanban, and Lean manufacturing principles
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic environment Collaborate with other engineering team members to improve existing designs or processes
