Operating Theatre Technician

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of operating theatres. This entails preparing the theatre for surgeries, overseeing junior technicians, and maintaining equipment functionality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-operative Preparation: Ensure all necessary instruments and equipment are available and functioning properly. Arrange surgical instruments, sterile drapes, sutures, and consumables required for specific surgeries.
  • Intra-operative Assistance: Assist surgeons during surgeries by passing instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and handling surgical tools and equipment. Ensure continuous supply of sterile materials throughout the procedure.
  • Post-operative Procedures: Safely collect and dispose of used instruments, ensuring all items are accounted for and correctly decontaminated. Transport specimens to the laboratory following safety protocols.
  • Sterilization and Infection Control: Oversee the sterilization of surgical instruments and ensure proper autoclave functioning. Monitor sterilization records and ensure compliance with infection control policies and hospital guidelines.
  • Equipment and Inventory Management: Ensure availability and proper functioning of all OT equipment. Perform regular checks, basic troubleshooting, and maintenance of surgical equipment.
  • Supervision and Team Coordination: Guide and supervise junior OT technicians and support staff. Train new staff and monitor their compliance with OT standards and safety protocols.
