Defence Sector Strategist

Job Overview:

The Defence Sector Strategist will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive business development strategy for the defence sector, aligned with corporate goals and government requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development:
    • Strategic planning: Develop and implement a strategic plan for growth in the defence sector, focusing on building relationships with government stakeholders, defence agencies, and industry partners.
    • Market intelligence: Monitor trends in the defence industry to identify opportunities for growth through government contracts, partnerships, and tenders.
    • Proposal management: Lead the development of proposals, tenders, and bids for government defence contracts, ensuring compliance with all regulations and requirements.
    • Partnership development: Identify and establish partnerships with key industry players, defence contractors, and government agencies to promote business growth.
    • Negotiation & contract management: Oversee negotiations and management of government contracts, ensuring favourable terms for the company and compliance with defence regulations.
  • Government Affairs & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Government relations: Serve as the primary liaison between the company and governmental bodies, defence departments, and public sector stakeholders, responsible for maintaining government relationships at all levels.
    • Advocacy & policy influence: Represent the company in government meetings, defence policy discussions, and public hearings to advocate for business interests and influence policy decisions.
    • Public affairs: Manage the company's image and reputation in the defence sector, ensuring alignment with corporate and government expectations.
    • Regulatory compliance: Monitor and ensure the company adheres to all relevant government regulations, defence laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Corporate Communications:
    • Internal communications: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure clear communication regarding business development goals, regulatory changes, and key corporate affairs initiatives.
    • External communications: Oversee the creation of external communication materials, including press releases, presentations, and media outreach related to defence business.
    • Crisis management: Support the company in managing any public relations or corporate issues related to government contracts or defence activities.
