Database Specialist Role

The technology and services we deliver play a vital role in our company's success, simplifying clients' and colleagues' lives.

As a database specialist, you will work closely with senior developers to design, test, plan, protect, and implement databases for our department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing database locking, process blocking, and performance tuning
  • Creating and maintaining high availability and disaster-recovery-friendly architecture
  • Optimizing, testing, and verifying backup and restoration processes
  • Developing monitoring and metrics tooling and dashboards for database performance insight
  • Proactively managing infrastructure to prevent future issues
  • Handling support tickets and assisting peers as needed
  • Designing and deploying new database objects and changes to existing objects
  • Creating complex functions, scripts, stored procedures, and triggers for application development
  • Maintaining complex relational database reports using SSRS

Required Skills:

  • Advanced understanding of relational database architecture/infrastructure, specifically MSSQL
  • Knowledge of SSMS, SSRS, and support tooling
  • Proficiency in T-SQL, Stored Procedures, and day-to-day DB functions
  • Advanced knowledge of optimizing MSSQL, supporting HA/DR, and other related areas
  • Strong knowledge of systems and software development lifecycles, application integration techniques, and relational database design
  • Experience with Always on High Availability Groups is beneficial
  • Analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems
  • Ability to choose tasks based on current workload priorities
  • Understanding and implementation of best-practices aligned with team standards
  • Effective communication of ideas, thoughts, and suggestions to manager and peers
  • Participation in code reviews and constructive feedback
  • Experience with cloud database storage technologies

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
