Site Reliability Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Vice President Site Reliability Engineer to help drive and implement the SRE strategy. This key position will play a crucial role in promoting an Automate-first culture in operating services, through reduction of toil.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing methodologies and strategies for identification of toil-heavy and inefficient processes, and automation and elimination of toil, delay and redundancy.

This role will assist in developing engineering and operational service metrics with actionable plans to improve operational efficiency, enhance service quality/SLA, and optimize delivery.

The VP SRE will work with all parties to develop and implement Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for critical services, define monitoring strategy with Engineering, and implement appropriate capabilities.

Key responsibilities include designing and implementing reliability improvements, conducting capacity planning, performing chaos engineering exercises, and leading architectural reviews for reliability.

We are looking for a highly skilled professional with a strong background in computer science, information systems, or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience.

Required qualifications include practical experience defining and implementing Service Level Objectives, operating to Error Budgets, hands-on experience with SRE Practitioner and modern observability tooling, including OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and associated projects.

Additionally, experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and design, knowledge of Configuration Management Solutions such as Ansible, Chef or Puppet, and 2+ years of experience with one/more public/private cloud platforms is necessary.
