Project Planning and Estimation Specialist Job Description

The Project Planning and Estimation Specialist is responsible for developing project plans, coordinating with internal departments to ensure execution readiness, and tracking progress through regular reports. They ensure alignment of drawings, materials, manpower, and contractors with schedule baselines and milestones.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinating Project Planning: Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop project schedules and share approved plans with site teams.
  2. Execution Coordination: Conduct site visits to verify actual progress and analyze lead/lag metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  3. Progress Tracking and Documentation: Monitor daily site activities using master bar charts and track drawing receipts, material requests, and other key performance indicators.
  4. Reporting and Cost Analysis: Prepare monthly progress and costing reports, and support estimation and cash flow forecasting initiatives.
  5. Risk and Manpower Management: Identify and escalate project risks, and assist in manpower planning to meet project timelines.
  6. BOQ and Cost Estimation: Analyze architectural and structural drawings to quantify civil, structural, finishing, and MEP works.
  7. Vendor Evaluation and Rate Analysis: Evaluate vendor quotations and prepare cost comparisons.
  8. Budget Tracking and Forecasting: Monitor project budgets and update forecasts based on scope changes.
  9. Cross-Departmental Coordination: Collaborate with design, execution, procurement, and finance teams to ensure alignment of estimates with project goals.
  10. Cost Risk Management: Identify potential cost variances and implement mitigation strategies for financial control.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering with around 5 years of experience in estimation for high-rise residential projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and market rates.
  • Hands-on experience with estimation software and MS Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • MS Projects/ Farvision experience will be preferred.
