Job Title: Lead Database Administrator

Dear Candidate,

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, architecture, and tuning.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing and maintaining large-scale PostgreSQL databases in production environments
  • Designing, implementing, and optimizing database systems for maximum performance and scalability
  • Providing expert-level support for database-related issues and troubleshooting
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operation of database systems

Requirements:

Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL DBA, including design, implementation, and optimization of database systems
  • Deep understanding of PostgreSQL internals, architecture, and tuning
  • Strong expertise in HA and replication solutions (Patroni, repmgr)
  • Hands-on experience with PITR, disaster recovery, and cluster rebuilds
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting, and automation
  • Solid understanding of database security and compliance best practices
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and experience handling critical incidents
Additional Requirements:
  • Experience with AWS PostgreSQL services like RDS and Aurora
  • Knowledge of logical replication and foreign data wrappers
  • Familiarity with cloud-managed PostgreSQL services
  • Maintain SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge base articles
