Legacy System Migration Specialist

We seek an expert in legacy system analysis and data migration to fill this key role. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of COBOL, IDMS, and DB2.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze existing COBOL applications and document their functionality, processes, and data structures.
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to gather system requirements and workflows.
  • Design and structure data models for migrating COBOL applications to target databases, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
  • Develop a comprehensive data migration strategy, including data mapping, transformation rules, and validation.
  • Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth application and data migration.
  • Perform testing and validation of migrated data, resolving discrepancies and ensuring system functionality post-migration.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges related to data migration and develop contingency plans.
  • Provide documentation and technical support throughout the migration process.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong experience with COBOL programming language and CICS BMS.
  • In-depth knowledge of DB2 and IDMS databases.
  • Proven expertise in analyzing and documenting legacy COBOL DB2 applications.
  • Experience in data migration strategies, particularly to IDMS.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data mapping, and ETL processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with modernization and migration of legacy systems.
  • Knowledge of COBOL, DB2, IDMS, and CICS BMS.
