Job Title: AS400 Administrator

We are seeking a seasoned IT professional with expertise in managing IBM iSeries systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with LPAR life cycle management, HMC setup, and storage configuration.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of LPARs – creation, import, clone, deploy, migrate, start, shutdown, and delete.
  • Configure and manage server pools on Power systems, ensuring seamless integration and high availability.
  • Perform advanced setup and firmware updates for IBM i, HMC, Storage, and SAN switches.
  • Document virtual WWPN mappings to corresponding LPARs, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Implement complex SAN zoning, mapping, and storage replication between data centers, ensuring efficient data transfer and minimal downtime.
  • Support test environments on Power9 and AS400 systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues.
  • Conduct regular data replication checks and collaborate with network teams to ensure smooth replication and optimal performance.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive infrastructure test procedures, dress rehearsals, and go-live activities, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruptions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest AS400 environment design trends and best practices, sharing knowledge and insights with the team.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and user manuals for AS400 restoration and recovery, ensuring business continuity and compliance.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 6–12 years of experience in AS400 / IBM i Administration, with a focus on system management and optimization.
  • Expertise in LPAR management, HMC setup, and storage configuration is essential.
