Global Engineering Expert Sought for High-Impact Migration Project

This is a challenging 6-month contract position with a global technology leader. The role involves participating in a high-impact migration project to modernize the company's legacy platform.

Project Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and maintain highly available, resilient, and secure production systems on AWS Cloud.
  • Migrate legacy UI systems to our new microservice architecture, ensuring seamless integration and high-quality code.
  • Upgrade legacy Java applications to Spring Boot applications, focusing on high-quality and secure coding practices.
  • Test, document, and quality-proof all work to ensure that software meets business needs.
  • Maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to optimize deployment processes.
  • Troubleshoot any issues to identify root causes and implement effective resolutions.
  • Support production deployments, operations, and maintenance activities.
  • Monitor key performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement in logging, reporting, and alerting.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, support, and security.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Java and related frameworks, including Spring/Spring Boot, as well as legacy versions such as Java 8 and Spring 3.
  • Strong understanding of JavaScript and related frameworks, including older frameworks like Backbone.js/Marionette.js and jQuery.
  • Experience with CI/CD practices, build and deployment technologies (e.g., Maven, Jenkins, Docker).
  • Hands-on experience working with REST APIs.
  • Proficiency in working with AWS Cloud infrastructure, including EC2, RDS, S3, and Elasticsearch.
  • Understanding of security concepts and vulnerability management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with colleagues.
