The finance department is the backbone of our business, supporting all areas with strategic decisions and growth opportunities. Our team members interact with various company departments.

Responsibilities

Accounting:

  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and Local GAAP, local tax regulations, and accounting principles across jurisdictions.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and Local GAAP, analyzing results to manage risk.
  • Act as primary contact for accounting partners, overseeing daily tasks and reviewing financial records.
  • Collaborate with accounting partners to finalize monthly financial records, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review and suggest corrections for accounting records maintained by external vendors.
  • Lead accounting operations for procure-to-pay processes, including expense management and balance sheet transactions.
  • Prepare month-end general ledger close activities for all legal entities.
  • Assist in preparing financial statement disclosures and support annual and periodic audits.
  • Collaborate with external accountants on statutory audits and due diligence processes.

Compliance:

  • Maintain a compliance calendar for geographies, laws, and requirements.
  • Manage vendor invoices, record payments, and ensure tax compliance.
  • Review tax filings and assist in preparing necessary tax submissions across India and the US.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory authority filings in India and the US, working with outsourced accounting and compliance partners.
  • Comply with Transfer Pricing regulations in India, the US, and other geographies.
  • Review and maintain compliance with applicable tax laws, employment laws, and regulations.
  • Provide reports needed by governmental regulations.

Financial Analysis and Process Setup:

  • Support the executive team in assessing the financial impact of new initiatives.
  • Calculate commissions for employees on variable payroll and submit reports to accounting partners.
  • Assist sales and customer service teams in completing vendor forms and ensuring compliance.
  • Develop financial accounting systems to maintain reporting specifications.
  • Coordinate, administer, and control financial operations.
  • Analyze and interpret financial and budgetary reports. Direct accounting operations and prepare annual financial forecasts.
  • Support country funding plans and capital structures for business expansion needs.
  • Improve data quality and integrity, reducing errors.
  • Standardize processes across regions and countries.

People/Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage accounting professionals, guiding them in controllership functions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate revenue activity reporting for the Group, maintaining a single source of truth for financial data.
  • Hire high-performing AR/AP teams, including credit management support.
  • Establish a strong service culture, achieving high customer satisfaction (internal and external).
  • Cash management, including daily cash positioning, multi-currency fund transfers, coordination with front/middle office and banks for timely settlements, investments, and redemption.
  • Work closely with secretarial, taxation, treasury, payroll, etc., to ensure smooth operations, manage cash flow, and make timely payments.
  • Assist in special projects like international expansion and ERP implementation.

Skillset:

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Zoho Books, and QuickBooks.
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP and Local GAAP accounting principles and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the SaaS business model and key metrics.
  • Excellent attention-to-detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to connect information to find proactive solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, presenting complex concepts and ideas persuasively.

Experience Required:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • Overall experience of about 4-6 years required.
  • Experience working at funded start-ups for 2+ years is nice to have.
  • Prior experience hiring/performing annual appraisals and team management is a plus.
  • Experience closing audits with Big-4 Auditors in India and/or the US.
