Job Description

We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented professional to manage the development and execution of enterprise-wide data governance initiatives. This role will sit within a team ensuring data is managed as a strategic asset, supporting compliance, data quality, and ethical data use across the organization.

The Data Governance Lead will execute against evolving data governance strategy and objectives, partnering with business and technology leaders to shape, guide, and advance an enterprise-wide data governance framework. The ideal candidate has a blend of data governance, privacy, and compliance experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Data Ownership & Stewardship: Establish clear roles and responsibilities for data owners and stewards across business units, collaborating with extended teams and leadership to create program awareness and drive issue resolution/escalation.
  2. Cross-Functional Stewardship Programs: Facilitate stewardship programs and councils to ensure accountability for authoritative data sources, data quality, accuracy, lineage, privacy, and compliance; maintain and enhance associated KPIs.
  1. Data Quality & Integrity Initiatives: Develop and implement data quality standards, validation rules, and monitoring processes.
  2. Remediation and Trust: Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to remediate data issues and improve trust in enterprise data assets.
  1. Data Classification & Protection Efforts: Direct the classification of data assets based on sensitivity, regulatory impact, and business value.
  2. Regulatory Compliance: Partner with Privacy, Security, and Legal teams to ensure appropriate controls are applied to sensitive and regulated data.
  1. Governance Policies & Compliance Frameworks: Author and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures aligned with privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  2. Audit Readiness: Ensure governance practices support audit readiness and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
  1. Data Governance Technology Systems: Guide the implementation of metadata management, data lineage, and monitoring tools.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree: In a related field (e.g., Information Management, Data Science)
  • Minimum Experience: 5 years of related experience
  • Strategic Thinking: Foundational technical expertise, including business acumen and strategic thinking, as well as the ability to identify issues and contribute to problem-solving solutions
  • Communication Skills: Ability to foster healthy working relationships and communicate effectively
  • Fintech Experience: Working understanding of the financial services industry, products, and services
