This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance project timelines, budgets, and client expectations while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Piping Design & Technical Oversight:
- Design and develop piping systems, including layout, materials, supports, and stress analysis, for various industrial projects.
- Ensure that all piping designs meet safety, efficiency, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve piping design deliverables, verifying compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications.
- Provide technical guidance on piping stress analysis, fluid flow calculations, and material selection for diverse piping systems.
- Project Coordination & Execution:
- Manage the execution of piping design projects, adhering to project schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
- Monitor project progress, addressing challenges that arise during design, procurement, or construction phases.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and efficient implementation of piping designs.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for technical or project-related issues affecting piping designs.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Establish and implement piping design quality control processes to ensure deliverables meet required standards of quality and accuracy.
- Verify that all designs adhere to health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Perform periodic reviews and audits of piping designs to ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and best practices.
- Lead or participate in project and design reviews to address technical challenges, optimize designs, and ensure quality compliance.
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- At least 12 years of experience in piping design engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Extensive experience in designing piping systems for large-scale projects in industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, or manufacturing.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Piping design expertise, including knowledge of piping layout, material selection, stress analysis, and fluid dynamics.
- Leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead, manage, and mentor a team of engineers and technical staff.
- Strong project management skills, including handling multiple projects, adhering to timelines, and managing project budgets effectively.
- Proficiency in piping design software, such as AutoCAD, PDMS, Revit, or equivalent piping design tools.
- Knowledge of relevant piping codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, etc.) and the ability to apply them to design projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting, presentations, and client interactions.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to resolve complex piping design challenges.
