Job Title: Piping Design Manager

We are seeking an experienced Piping Design Manager to lead our team of piping engineers and designers.

  • About the Role:
  • This is a key position in our organization responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise in piping design, and experience in team management.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Delivery
  1. Oversee the preparation of piping design deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, isometrics, MTOs, and support drawings.
  2. Ensure timely, high-quality deliverables that meet project specifications and client expectations.
  3. Review and approve piping designs, calculations, stress analysis reports, and vendor documents.
Technical Oversight
  1. Guide the design and analysis of piping systems across various industries.
  2. Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes and safety standards.
  3. Resolve complex technical challenges in layout, material selection, stress management, and constructability.
Interdisciplinary Coordination
  1. Collaborate with other disciplines for integrated project execution.
  2. Participate in model reviews, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and design audits.
  3. Manage and resolve interface issues between piping and other disciplines.
Client and Stakeholder Interaction
  1. Act as the technical point of contact for clients and vendors regarding piping design.
  2. Participate in project kick-off meetings, design reviews, and technical clarifications.
  3. Support procurement and site teams with vendor selection, technical bid evaluations, and installation support.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  1. Implement quality assurance procedures and conduct internal audits of design deliverables.
  2. Ensure strict adherence to safety codes, material specifications, and environmental regulations.
  3. Support risk assessments, constructability, and maintainability reviews.
Strategic & Business Support
  1. Contribute to proposal development, scope definition, and estimation for new projects.
  2. Identify and implement best practices, automation tools, and process improvements.
  3. Support leadership in achieving departmental KPIs, cost targets, and innovation goals.
Qualifications:
  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field; M.E./M.Tech is an advantage.
  • 12+ years in piping design and engineering, with at least 3–5 years in a team leadership or managerial role.
  • Certifications: PE, CEng, or equivalent preferred. PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software (SP3D, E3D, PDMS), stress analysis tools (CAESAR II), and AutoCAD.
  • Deep understanding of piping materials, layout, support design, and welding procedures.
  • Strong project management, team leadership, and client-handling skills.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation abilities.
