Job Description
The Piping Layout Engineer will be responsible for the development and maintenance of piping layouts in accordance with project specifications and industry standards. This role involves collaborating with various engineering disciplines to ensure that piping designs meet functional requirements while optimizing space and resources. The Piping Layout Engineer will also be involved in creating and reviewing 3D models, performing clash detection, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed piping layouts and designs in alignment with project specifications.
  • Collaborate with process, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated designs.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to understand existing conditions and constraints.
  • Utilize 3D modeling software to create accurate and efficient piping layouts.
  • Perform clash detection and resolution between piping systems and other structures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Prepare documentation, reports, and presentations related to piping layouts.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical support to project teams.
  • Assist with coordination of piping activities during construction and commissioning phases.

Skills And Tools Required

  • Strong knowledge of piping design principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or PDS.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, ISO).
  • Experience with clash detection tools and coordination processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Experience with project management software and tools is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in piping layout design in the oil and gas, petrochemical, or related industries.
  • Familiarity with fabrication and installation practices is advantageous.
