Piping Design Engineer Role

As a Piping Design Engineer, you will play a vital role in the development of piping systems for various projects.

  • You will lead the design and layout of piping systems, including routing, supports, and material selection, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Prepare and review piping deliverables such as P&IDs, isometric drawings, piping plans, GA drawings, and MTOs (Material Take-Offs).
  • Evaluate flexibility, thermal expansion, and loading conditions using pipe stress analysis tools like CAESAR II or AutoPIPE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed analyses to evaluate complex piping challenges related to layout, space constraints, thermal effects, and equipment alignment.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure smooth integration of piping designs with overall plant or facility layout.

Technical Expertise:

  • Deep understanding of piping codes and standards, including ASME B31.3/B31.1, API, ASTM.
  • Proficiency in software tools like CAESAR II, AutoCAD Plant 3D, SmartPlant 3D, E3D, or PDMS.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in piping design and engineering in EPC or consulting organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in handling complex projects and ability to work independently.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in piping layout, stress, and support design.
  • Excellent coordination skills with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Clear and effective communication, including technical writing and report preparation.
