Piping Design Engineer Role Summary
Seeking a seasoned piping design engineer to join our team. This role involves designing and developing piping systems for various projects, including oil & gas, petrochemical, and power generation. Responsibilities include creating detailed piping layouts, isometric drawings, and 3D models using CAD software. Additionally, the successful candidate will collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide expert consultation on piping design and layout.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Piping System Design: Develop piping systems that meet project requirements, ensuring safety, functionality, and regulatory compliance.
  • CAD Software Proficiency: Use AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or Revit to create detailed piping layouts, isometric drawings, and 3D models.
  • Design Calculations: Prepare design calculations for pipe sizing, material selection, and stress analysis.


Consultation and Client Interaction
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide expert consultation on piping design and layout.
  • Provide technical consultation during project meetings, reviewing and approving design options and changes.


Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure proper integration of piping systems within the overall project design.
  • Work with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure that the piping design is implemented correctly and adheres to project timelines.


Compliance and Quality Control
  • Ensure all piping designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations, including ASME, ASTM, and API standards.
  • Perform design reviews and ensure all documents, designs, and models adhere to the highest quality standards and client specifications.


Site Visits and Field Support
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess project requirements, verify design feasibility, and troubleshoot any issues that arise during construction.
  • Provide field support for commissioning activities, ensuring that the installed piping systems match the original design specifications.


Documentation and Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including design calculations, drawings, project reports, and specifications.
  • Update design drawings and documentation as required to reflect changes during the project lifecycle.


Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in piping design, preferably in a consulting or engineering firm environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or Revit for piping design and drafting.
  • Strong understanding of piping design principles, materials, and construction methods.
  • In-depth knowledge of piping codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, API, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for client interaction and team collaboration.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot design and installation issues.
