Capital Cost Estimator

About the Position:

The ideal candidate will be accountable for creating comprehensive cost estimates, offering expertise on building economics and tendering procedures, drafting contract packages, and conducting commercial evaluations of all tender submissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capital Cost Estimates: Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Building Economics: Provide advice on building economics, including market trends and forecasts.
  • Tendering Procedures: Advise on tendering procedures, including preparation of tender documents and evaluation of tender submissions.
  • Contract Arrangements: Draft contract packages, including amendments to standard forms.
  • Pricing Documents: Prepare pricing documents for tender packages.
  • Tender Evaluation: Commercially evaluate all tender submissions and negotiate with tenderers.
  • Price Variation: Determine amounts due to contractors for price variation.
  • Claims: Determine amounts of claims.
  • Cost Reports: Prepare and submit monthly cost reports.

Requirements:

  • Degree: A Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree is acceptable with 5 to 10 years' experience.
  • Understanding: Strong understanding of QS & cost management processes; to understand drawings for quantification.
  • Certification: Chartered QS under a recognized organization such as RICS, SCSI, AIQS, NZIQS etc.
  • IT Literacy: IT literacy and proficiency with MS Office.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential.
  • Problem Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with an aptitude to work rapidly and accurately under pressure.
  • Teamwork: Ability to coordinate with other staff and departments across global offices located in the US.
  • Self-Starter: An organized self-starter who is attentive to detail and able to work independently.
