Associate - Indirect Tax Advisory

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as an Associate in Indirect Tax Advisory.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on indirect tax matters, including research and analysis of legal provisions, drafting of advises and opinions, and preparation of compliance reports.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of legal provisions related to indirect taxes.
  • Draft high-quality advises, opinions, and compliance reports that meet the firm's standards.
  • Prepare engaging PowerPoint presentations for client meetings, trainings, and seminars.
  • Analyze client data to estimate tax impact on business transactions.
  • Develop scenario models to identify the most tax-efficient business strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of articles, monographs, and other knowledge management materials.

Client Service Delivery/Execution:

  • Proactively identify and discuss technical issues with clients while considering firm risk factors.
  • Handle tax matters related to submissions, replies to notices, appeals, and meetings with tax authorities.
  • Take ownership of smaller client accounts and work independently to deliver high-quality results.
  • Develop strong relationships with middle-level client managers.

Developing Commercial Acumen:

  • Stay up-to-date with firm-wide and competitor activities, as well as general business trends.
  • Apply commercial knowledge to deliver value-added solutions to clients.

Networking & Identification of Opportunities:

  • Identify new opportunities for existing clients and communicate them to managers.
  • Network internally to gain insights into client needs and firm priorities.
  • Compile and update a database of legal information, contributing to study sessions and staying current with the latest developments.

Developing Strong Knowledge Base:

  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in tax and other laws.
  • Contribute to the firm's knowledge management activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and drafting skills.
  • Strong analytical and researching skills.
  • Proactive, reliable, and detail-oriented approach.

Experience and Education:

  • CA or Law Graduate from a reputable institution with a strong academic record.
  • 0-2 years of post-qualification experience in indirect tax, preferably in litigation or advisory roles. Prior experience in GST and/or customs would be beneficial.
