Financial Analyst Opportunity

Matsya Capital is an investment firm focused on the Indian equity market. Founded in 2012, the firm operates on the traditional US hedge fund model.

The Managing Partner has extensive experience working at renowned hedge funds in New York as an Investment Analyst. Matsya applies principles of stock selection practiced at top global hedge funds to the Indian equity market.

The strategy of the fund is rooted in fundamental research and investment decisions are based on a medium to long term outlook on the stock and sector.

Expertise lies in identifying mis-understood situations and abnormal stock movements, then conducting in-depth valuation on what is priced in and how that is likely to change.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct financial modelling, analysis, and form an investment thesis on the sector assigned.
  • Track down and analyse every industry/company data point available in the public domain.
  • Make presentations and present convincing ideas to the team.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities shared by all members of the team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A keen interest in capital markets.
  • Ability to fully understand businesses and sectors they operate in.
  • Strong skills in financial modelling, analysing income statements-balance sheet-cash flows and valuing companies.
  • Prior experience of building operating and financial models of companies and industries.
  • Familiarity with basic principles of equity valuation.
  • Exceptional skills in advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience (sell-side or buy-side experience preferred).
