Senior SQL Developer Job Description

Job Overview:

  • The Senior SQL Developer will design and implement databases using a variety of database management systems.
  • They will maintain databases, ensuring data integrity through backups and restores.
  • Deployments and adherence to best practices for database management are also essential responsibilities.
  • The Senior SQL Developer will collaborate with the security team to ensure database security and manage access permissions.
  • They will be responsible for managing database migrations between servers and versions.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving any issues with databases is also a critical task.
  • The Senior SQL Developer will work with vendor support on complex issues and develop documentation related to databases.
  • Collaboration with IT and development teams is necessary to ensure system availability and performance.
  • Supporting reporting team members with database queries and data requirements is also an important responsibility.
  • Providing Power BI support and integrating data from multiple sources into Power BI are key tasks.
  • The Senior SQL Developer will implement row-level security and manage access permissions in Power BI.
  • Gathering requirements and delivering actionable insights to stakeholders is another essential responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement databases using SQL Server, MySQL, and MongoDB.
  • Maintain databases, including backups and restores, to ensure data integrity.
  • Manage deployments and adhere to best practices for database management.
  • Collaborate with the security team to ensure database security.
  • Manage database migrations between servers and versions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with databases.
  • Work with vendor support on complex issues.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to databases.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a DBA, with expertise in SQL Server, MySQL, and MongoDB.
  • Strong knowledge of database administration, design, and maintenance.
  • Experience with database migrations and deployments.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
