Electrical Design Lead - Data Center Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Lead to lead our data center engineering team in the Asia Pacific region.

The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of various code requirements across the APAC region, fundamental knowledge of critical MV and LV electrical equipment, and detailed understanding of MV system modeling, relays, protection schemes, circuit breakers, power distribution transformers, electrical switchgear, grounding, and earthing.

In addition to technical expertise, the successful candidate should also possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, experience with fast-track design/build projects, and ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.

This role will involve collaborating with other disciplines to create coordinated construction documents, participating in site selection reviews, and working with local utilities to understand and define site utility requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead data center electrical designs in collaboration with other disciplines
  • Participate in site selection reviews and work with local utilities to understand and define site utility requirements
  • Design critical data center equipment including site-wide MV infrastructure, generators, uninterruptible power supplies, switchgear, transformers, and earthing
  • Create designs that meet or exceed quality requirements
  • Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment
  • Ensure compliance with IEC requirements, APAC wide design codes, and other jurisdictional requirements
  • Review and approve equipment submittals and work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions
  • Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during construction phases
  • Collaborate with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems
  • Travel to sites for site review and work with onsite field engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, electrical systems audits, and startup as needed
