Energy Efficiency Manager

At Tesco Business Solutions, we're driving scale at speed and delivering value to the Tesco Group through the power of decision science. As a key member of our team, you'll play a vital role in reducing energy costs and carbon emissions across our operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team to manage Tesco's energy consumption, facilitating data-driven decision making, and contributing to strategic projects aimed at optimizing energy efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing energy efficiency projects and evaluating their success through effective post-investment reviews & analysis.
  • Optimizing energy consumption and reducing costs to meet Tesco's carbon targets implementing data-driven strategies.
  • Identifying trends, anomalies, & gaining a deep understanding of energy usage by analyzing energy consumption data from various sources.
  • Collaborating with FP&A and Treasury teams to develop precise energy budgets for better energy procurement across the Tesco group.
  • Forecasting future electricity demand considering factors such as solar rollout, fit-outs, EV charging, and decarbonization initiatives.
  • Establishing effective energy consumption baselines for exception and drift monitoring to optimize energy consumption of Tesco Estate.
  • Managing and tracking energy budgets with accurate forecasting of both consumption and non-consumption expenditures.
  • Developing new solutions to optimize energy cost & consumption and partnering with external vendors to enhance energy data quality.
  • Collaborating with Regional Energy Managers to analyze their energy usage and support them in making data-driven decisions.
  • Establishing effective communication channels to engage within and across teams; celebrating success, gathering ideas, and keeping the team updated on new directions, policies, and procedures through regular one-on-ones & team meetings.

You will need:

  • A graduate degree in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering or a related field (preferable).
  • 10-14 years of experience in the energy domain and relevant industry along with 4+ years managing large teams.
  • The ability to understand and interpret problems, define metrics/KPIs, and derive insights from large data sets.
  • The ability to collaborate and work across processes to achieve shared success.

Good knowledge on advanced Excel, MS Office Suite, SQL & BI tools Tableau/Python/R-Studio. Strong understanding on applied math, data statistics with good demonstration of analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication. Good knowledge on energy accounting, budget, and energy project management preferably in the Retail segment. Stakeholder management, Contractor management, Operations delivery, People, Policies, and Process.
