Sr IT Infrastructure Engineer

This position is responsible for the design, configuration, build, implementation, maintenance, and performance of critical database systems to ensure availability and consistent performance. The role will specialize in DB2 UDB as its primary platform of accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical database management system design and build to support application development teams with application database needs in their development lifecycle.
  • Translate logical data model designs into physical designs and assist with deployment and security configuration.
  • Act as a liaison to database administration production support teams and serve as an escalation point for incident management for databases assigned.
  • Evaluate existing systems to make recommendations on resources required to maintain service levels.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field OR Minimum Six (6) years experience in an IT operations environment with technical experience in distributed technologies, systems development, and/or networking.
  • Experience with DB2 UDB database, HA/DR solutions, database performance tuning and troubleshooting, SQL query language, and database monitoring solutions.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop project support plans, schedules, and assignments.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into technical specifications that support integrated and sustainable designs for designated infrastructure systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework, cloud environments, and database services.
  • Scripting experience using UNIX/Linux scripting languages and PowerShell scripting languages.
  • Coding experience with one or more programming languages.
  • Experience writing technical documentation in an infrastructure development environment.
