Data Engineer

This role is ideal for a driven and proactive professional with expertise in various database administration, reporting, and dashboarding disciplines.

We are looking for an experienced data engineer with extensive experience in SQL Server development, SSRS design and implementation, ETL, Azure data storage, Azure Synapse analytics, and some exposure to Power BI and data visualization tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop solutions that meet business needs by understanding requirements and designing effective architecture.
  • Create warehouse and reporting solutions using sound engineering principles.
  • Extract data from applications and third-party products using SQL and ETL techniques.
  • Consolidate multiple data sources into a data warehouse and/or lake, ensuring accessibility and structuring for reporting purposes.
  • Set up dashboards and reports in data visualization tools, providing insights to stakeholders.
  • Design and implement resilient, secure, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Proactively monitor and address issues to ensure smooth operations.
  • Foster collaboration as part of an agile team to design, develop, and maintain software.
  • Work with product management to prioritize technical debt remediation and refactoring of data structures and stored procedures.
  • Implement repeatable data pull requests and execute ad-hoc requests as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of strong experience with SQL Servers and relational databases.
  • Experience with querying and optimizing complex data sets.
  • Strong background in creating and optimizing complex stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Expertise in working with legacy code and systems.
  • End-to-end knowledge from product databases to information visualization.
  • Proficiency in Azure cloud technologies, including ADF, Functions, DLS, Synapse, etc.
  • Knowledge of relational database design and architecture.
  • Expertise in data visualization and reporting using SSRS and Power BI.
  • Experience with ETL tools like SSIS, ADF, or other relevant tools.
  • Background in data warehousing and data modeling (single-layer Data Warehouse/Kimball).
  • .NET and Azure experience are pluses.
  • Agile environment experience is a plus.
  • AWS cloud data technologies experience is beneficial.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with ability to share ideas and collaborate effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable working at all levels.
  • Ability to self-organize, prioritize tasks, and work independently or as part of a team.
