Job Description

As a Property Accounting Manager, you will oversee the accounting operations of commercial properties. You will work closely with 3rd-party property teams and other members of the accounting team to ensure compliance with lender, tax, and investor requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage overall property-level accounting, including review of 3rd-party property accounting for consistency, accuracy, and proper accounting.
  • Work closely with 3rd-party property teams to oversee day-to-day accounting operations using an accounting platform.
  • Prepare financial reports, annual budgets, and quarterly budget re-projections.
  • Provide support to 3rd-party users and review and approval of operating and tax escalations.
  • Manage loan compliance, mortgage payments, and lender reporting, including debt service coverage ratio calculations.
Joint Venture Accounting:
  • Review and comply with operating agreements.
  • Prepare financial reporting on a consolidation or combined level, as required, including audited financial statements with footnotes.
  • Cash management, including capital calls and distributions.
Acquisitions and Dispositions:
  • Work with Acquisitions to review diligence materials and settlement statements, including prorations and buyer/seller credits.
  • Review estoppels and record opening entries.
  • Monitor all post-closing activity for true-up with Seller or Buyer.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 5-8 years of property accounting experience, with the majority in commercial real estate.
  • Experience with Funds and/or Joint Ventures.
  • Proficient in fair value GAAP, tax accounting, and IFRS.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
