Static Stress Engineer Job Description

As a Static Stress Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing the structural integrity of aircraft components using various methods. Your work will involve extracting data from drawings and specifications, applying design values from industry standards, and creating Finite Element Models (FEMs) to simulate real-world conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform stress analysis on metallic and composite structures using classical methods, ISAMI, GFEM, and DFEM.
  • Extract loads, stresses, material data, geometry details, and fastener specifications from part and assembly drawings.
  • Apply appropriate static design values from standard references such as FAA or AS9100.
  • Create and refine FEMs using geometric data to model complex systems.
  • Conduct sizing of primary and secondary structures to meet static requirements and ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.
  • Extract fastener loads and perform detailed joint analysis to determine Reserve Factors (RF) for failure modes including strength, buckling, and shear panel failure.
  • Identify and implement low RF mitigations using classical or numerical methods.
  • Prepare stress certification dossiers, including ACD4 and SSR reports, to document findings and recommendations.
