Advanced Mathematics Researcher

We are seeking skilled researchers to assist in fine-tuning and evaluating large language models (LLMs) for advanced math problems.

This is a remote research-focused initiative, where you may be asked to complete tasks such as:

  • Determine the number of real symmetric matrices of rank 2 with entries only 0 or 1.
  • Find the number of subsets of a 10-element set with characteristic vectors having Hamming weight exactly 3.
  • Count distinct 10-digit numbers where the sum of digits is divisible by 3, and each digit is either 0 or 1.

These tasks aim to identify model weaknesses and improve training and evaluation workflows.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A strong academic background in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to solve advanced math problems with clear and structured reasoning.
  • Communication skills: Clarity in explaining complex topics and providing feedback with precision.
  • Research independence: Ability to work independently in a remote research environment and participate actively in team discussions.
  • Technical setup: Access to a reliable computer and internet connection to participate in remote assignments.

Please note that this position is open only to candidates who have completed or are currently pursuing a Ph.D.;

Time Commitment & Contract Details

The commitment required for this role includes at least 4 hours per day and minimum 20 hours per week, with 4 hours of overlap with PST. The contract duration is 1 month, and the engagement type is contractor assignment/freelancer.
