Job Title: IT Project Manager - Portfolio Governance

">About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead our IT project portfolio governance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the IT project management office, enforcing project management frameworks, and ensuring the successful execution of all IT projects.

The role involves managing the IT portfolio processes, including IT planning, portfolio governance, project methodology framework, and resource capacity management. Additionally, you will be responsible for supervising and mentoring the project management team, creating staffing plans, analysing project proposals, and implementing effective project communication.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage the IT portfolio processes, including IT planning, portfolio governance, project methodology framework, and resource capacity management.
  • Supervise and mentor the project management team, including performance reviews, career growth, and training.
  • Create staffing plans for internal and external resources, recommending long-term contractors or full-time additions.
  • Analyse project proposals to determine timelines, funding, and required processes.
  • Implement effective project communication, including steering committee meetings and status reports.
  • Manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Align project goals with business objectives and manage delivery on time and within budget.
  • Operate within the organization's SDLC framework using agile/scrum methodologies.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience in project management of complex IT projects.
  • Deep understanding of agile frameworks, including Scrum, SAFe, Disciplined Agile, etc.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Background in Business Analysis.
  • Proven experience managing an IT Portfolio or PMO.
  • Prior team leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing external vendors and contract staff.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and meet goals, define schedules, allocate resources, and implement processes.
  • Strong ability to navigate ambiguity and bring clarity to teams.
  • Software product development life cycles experience is mandatory.
  • Banking or financial services domain experience is required.
