Job Summary

\

The System Administrator role is responsible for the day-to-day administration of MySQL databases and Linux servers. Key responsibilities include administering database installations, configurations, upgrades, replication setup/monitoring, user management, and database health monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

\
  • Administer MySQL databases to ensure optimal performance, security, and stability. This includes installation, configuration, upgrades, replication setup, and user management.\
  • Monitor database health to identify potential issues and troubleshoot problems related to metadata locks, slow queries, replication lag, and optimize database performance.\
  • Manage Linux servers by performing user management, process monitoring, cron jobs, package updates, and system resource checks.\
  • Implement and monitor backup and recovery processes using tools like mysqldump or Percona XtraBackup.\
  • Patch, upgrade, and harden MySQL and Linux environments to ensure security and stability.\
  • Provide technical support to resolve complex issues and escalate them to higher-level support teams with detailed root cause analysis inputs.\
  • Participate in disaster recovery drills, capacity planning, and system audits to ensure business continuity.\
  • Maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base documentation to ensure consistency and best practices.
