Database Administrator Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to manage and support our MS SQL Database.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor generated logs and event files indicating errors that result in incidents.
  • Ensure database availability through monitoring and DR (Disaster Recovery) initiatives.
  • Manage database log replication and report status as per agreed schedules.
  • Monitor sessions, queries, logs, and latches for performance optimization.
  • Purging database logs and trace files to maintain a clean environment.
  • Periodic configuration review to maintain consistent configurations.
  • Review and recommendation to maintain high database availability.
  • Monthly reporting on database availability.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving database-related incidents.
  • Tuning database parameters for optimal performance.
  • Correlating related incidents into problem tickets and managing through the problem management process.
  • Restoring databases and supporting SQL DB L2 teams for critical issues.
  • Handling end-to-end major incidents and communicating with customers on production issues.
  • Automating administration tasks where possible and updating database environment documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Team management experience.
  • Handling major incidents and root cause analysis.
  • Database installation and troubleshooting.
  • Always ON Cluster configuration and management.
  • Failover Cluster management.
  • Patching and Failover cluster and Always ON.
  • Replication and Link Server configuration.
  • Database patching and hardening.

To succeed in this role, you should possess excellent technical skills, experience in team management, and a proactive approach to ensuring high database availability.
