Job Overview:

The Principal Food Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing quality control systems to ensure food products meet regulatory standards, customer expectations, and safety requirements.

This role ensures the highest quality of products from raw materials to finished goods while driving continuous improvement in production and safety processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain quality control systems, policies, and procedures that meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor and evaluate the production process ensuring consistency and safety.
  • Develop protocols for raw material inspection, in-process control, and finished product testing to minimize deviations or non-conformities.

Process Monitoring:

  • Oversee regular audits, inspections, and testing processes across all production stages to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the quality control team to supervise the production process and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement corrective actions swiftly to address any quality deviations or non-conformities.

Compliance & Certification:

  • Maintain certifications and compliance with industry standards (ISO, BRC) to ensure a high level of quality and safety.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all quality control processes and procedures for internal and external audits.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during inspections to maintain a positive reputation.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement initiatives in product quality and process efficiency.
  • Collaborate with R&D, production, and procurement teams to address quality-related issues and innovate solutions.
  • Lead quality training programs for staff to maintain high standards and awareness.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor the quality control team to ensure proper resource allocation and professional development.
  • Foster a culture of quality and safety throughout the organization to drive business success.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in quality control, preferably in the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, quality control methods, and industry certifications.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in quality control software and tools.
