At the forefront of biotechnology innovation, we are seeking a pioneering leader to spearhead our Downstream Process Optimisation & Protein Purification team.

This high-impact role offers direct influence on taking recombinant proteins from R&D scale to commercial manufacturing, driving cost-effective and sustainable protein manufacturing for life sciences, animal health, and beyond.

About the Role
  • Lead and mentor a dynamic team of 4 scientists, setting individual key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive collective success.
  • Oversee strategy and execution for downstream R&D activities, fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Design and optimise protein purification workflows for recombinant proteins expressed in complex eukaryotic systems.
  • Implement and validate virus removal/inactivation steps to meet global regulatory standards, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Translate research protocols to commercial-scale processes, working closely with the commercial production team to deliver scalable and efficient solutions.
  • Collaborate with the New Protein Production Optimisation Team to integrate upstream-downstream process expertise.
  • Establish and maintain robust R&D processes, ensuring timely delivery of projects and milestones.
  • Contribute to intellectual property (IP) strategy, safeguarding downstream innovations through strategic protection.
  • Participate in recruitment, training, and development of team members, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.
