US Tax Associate Job Description

This role is for a full-time tax professional who will work with clients to prepare and submit tax returns, as well as provide expert advice on tax matters. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prepare personal, corporate, and trust income tax returns along with other tax elections.
  • Apply provisions of US tax treaty to cross-border tax transactions.
  • Assist with Sales tax filings and registrations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with partners and senior staff to develop and implement effective strategies and client tax planning assignments.
  • Establish relationships with clients and gain a solid understanding of their business.
  • Develop and apply process management expertise (planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling).
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The following qualifications are required:

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in preparing/reviewing 1040 personal income tax returns and 1120 corporate income tax returns.
  • Public accounting experience (preferably in tax).
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with clients for their tax matters.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree – preferably in accounting.
Preferred Qualifications:

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Ability to complete engagement with limited supervision.
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset (ie, Proystems, FX, Gosystems, Drake Tax).

Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role. In addition, the ideal candidate will be self-motivated, proactive, and possess strong time management skills.
