Migration Expert Sought

We're looking for an experienced migration specialist to design and implement automated pipelines for moving enterprise Kafka workloads to open-source or cloud-native clusters. This involves a deep understanding of Apache Kafka administration and migration, as well as the ability to script and provision migration steps, automate validation, rollback, and monitoring tasks.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop custom plugins for Kafka Connect as part of migration workflows, integrating with existing systems and processes
  • Build scalable CI/CD processes for Kafka resource provisioning and configuration rollouts, ensuring seamless integration with DevOps practices
  • Ensure comprehensive automated tests cover data integrity, performance, and integration interfaces post-migration, providing confidence in the migration process
  • Collaborate with teams to implement continuous integration and deployment practices, driving cultural change and improving efficiency
  • Work closely with stakeholders to define and execute migration strategies, leveraging expertise in Kafka Connect, Terraform, CloudFormation, and other relevant tools

 

Required Skills:
  • CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Scripting (Python, Go, Bash), with experience in automation and scripting languages
  • Kafka Connect custom plugin API, Maven/Gradle, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Monitoring/validation: Prometheus, Grafana, and related monitoring and logging tools
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems, scalability, and high availability principles
