Job Title: Enterprise Kafka and Service Mesh Architect

Experience: 5-8 years of overall IT experience with a proven track record.

Job Summary:

As a seasoned professional, you will work onsite for a leading banking client upgrading Service Mesh to the latest version, migrating Kafka clusters to KRaft architecture, managing deployments on OpenShift, and ensuring seamless integration between microservices hosted on OpenShift.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Upgrade Service Mesh from version 2.0 to 3.0 on production clusters, leveraging expertise in Istio/Red Hat Service Mesh 3.0.
  • Migrate Kafka from Mirror Maker & Zookeeper to KRaft architecture, utilizing knowledge of Kafka upgrades and migration techniques.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage Kafka and Service Mesh on OpenShift (OCP) environments, emphasizing strong hands-on experience with OpenShift.
  • Ensure seamless integration between Kafka, Service Mesh, and microservices hosted on OpenShift, solidifying understanding of microservices communication patterns.
  • Collaborate with the bank's IT and development teams for production rollouts, adhering to restricted environment guidelines.
  • Perform troubleshooting, optimization, and security hardening within a highly restricted environment, applying prior experience in banking or secure projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5–8 years of overall IT experience with proven expertise in:
  • Kafka (upgrades, migration to KRaft architecture).
  • Service Mesh (hands-on upgrade experience with Istio/Red Hat Service Mesh 3.0 is mandatory).
  • Strong, hands-on experience with OpenShift (OCP).
  • Solid understanding of microservices communication patterns and hybrid cloud/on-prem architectures.
  • Prior experience in banking or secure environment projects preferred.
  • Ability to work onsite with limited external internet access.
