Job Role:

The Senior Underwriter is accountable for analyzing and managing property insurance risks for corporate clients, large factories, warehouses, hospitals, hotels, etc. and retail commercial customers, shops, SMEs, offices, godowns, housing societies under Fire, IAR, Burglary, and Engineering insurance portfolios.

Key Responsibilities include reviewing new and renewal proposals, assessing risks based on occupancy, construction, location, exposure, claims history, and fire safety measures, recommending premiums, deductibles, coverage conditions, warranties, and exclusions as per risk profile.

Additional responsibilities include coordinating with brokers, agents, POSPs, sales teams, and reinsurers for quote issuance, policy structuring, and documentation, attending risk inspections and client discussions for high-value or complex properties where required, ensuring adherence to IRDAI regulations, underwriting manuals, reinsurance treaties, and internal audit norms.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in corporate or retail property underwriting in a general insurance company or underwriting agency
  • Strong knowledge of Fire, IAR, Burglary, and Engineering insurance products
  • Excellent analytical, underwriting pricing, and decision-making skills
  • Hands-on experience in portfolio management and claims ratio monitoring
  • Effective at client handling, broker engagement, and internal stakeholder coordination
  • Familiarity with IRDAI guidelines, reinsurance processes, and insurance regulatory compliance
