Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing RDBMS software installations, database server builds, patch applications, upgrades, configuration, and troubleshooting of SQL Server 2008R2/2012/2014/2016. Key responsibilities include:

  • Database Management: Design, implement, and maintain databases using SQL Server 2008R2/2012/2014/2016.
  • Disaster Recovery & High Availability: Develop and execute disaster recovery plans by configuring AlwaysOn, Clustering, Log-shipping, Mirroring, and Replication (Snapshot and Transactional). Implement high availability in SQL 2012/2016 by configuring AlwaysOn Availability Groups across Windows Server Failover Clustering.
  • Security: Ensure the security and integrity of databases through encryption and access control measures.
  • Maintenance & Optimization: Regularly back up, restore, recover, update statistics, rebuild and reorganize indexes, defragment tables, and manage database maintenance plans to ensure optimal database performance.

In addition to these key responsibilities, the ideal candidate should possess excellent analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills to effectively collaborate with the development team and stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The following skills and qualifications are essential for this role:

  • Expertise in RDBMS software installation, database server builds, applying patches, upgrading, configuring, and troubleshooting of SQL Server 2008R2/2012/2014/2016.
  • Proficiency in implementing Disaster Recovery plans by configuring AlwaysOn, Clustering, Log-shipping, Mirroring, and Replication (Snapshot and Transactional).
  • Experience in query optimization and performance tuning using SQL Profiler, Execution Plan, Performance Monitor, and DBCC Commands.
  • Ability to automate routine tasks using PowerShell or SSIS.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills

While not required, experience with the following tools and technologies would be beneficial:

  • Quest Foglight/AppDynamics or other 3rd party monitoring tools.
  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • PowerShell scripting.
