Music Teacher Role at Special School

Lady Andal House of Children, a renowned special school in Chennai, seeks an accomplished Music Teacher to join its team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing and implementing music lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.

  • The successful candidate must have the ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate students with autism, physical disabilities, learning difficulties, or emotional/behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement music curricula tailored to the needs of learners with varying abilities.
  • Utilize assistive technologies and alternative communication methods to enhance student participation.
  • Promote music as a means of self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities.
  • Assess student progress using tailored benchmarks; maintain accurate records and contribute to IEPs.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment; manage behaviour sensitively.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Carnatic/Hindustani Music or related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience working with children in a mainstream or special school setting.
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education (preferred).
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (preferred).
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education.
  • Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group music singing.
