We are seeking a seasoned expert in database administration to oversee the performance, availability, and security of our growing fleet of databases. This individual will play a key role in designing scalable data architectures, ensuring high availability, and supporting development teams with optimised queries and resilient data pipelines.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining, monitoring, and tuning production and staging MSSQL and PostgreSQL databases
  • Managing high availability, backups, restores, replication, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Ensuring uptime and performance SLAs are met across cloud and hybrid environments

This role requires expertise in database administration and operations, including database design and architecture, security and compliance, and collaboration and mentoring.

Required skills and experience include:

  • 10+ years of DBA experience, including at least 5+ years with MSSQL Server and 5+ years with PostgreSQL
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS database services: RDS, Aurora, S3, and IAM integration
  • Solid understanding of SQL query optimisation, execution plans, and troubleshooting slow queries
  • Proven track record of managing production-grade environments with strict uptime SLAs
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and automation using tools like Terraform or Ansible

Nice-to-have qualifications include experience with NoSQL databases, CI/CD pipelines, containerized database deployments, and certification in AWS.
