Senior Azure Cosmos DB Specialist

We are seeking an accomplished professional to lead the design, implementation, and management of our database solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Database Architecture:
    • Design highly scalable and available database solutions using Azure Cosmos DB.
    • Develop best practices for data modeling, sharding, and partitioning strategies to optimize OLTP and OLAP workloads.
    • Evaluate and recommend optimal cluster configuration to meet performance and cost-effectiveness goals.
  • Advanced Performance Optimization:
    • Conduct in-depth performance analysis and tuning of complex SQL queries, database configurations, and distributed table structures.
    • Utilize advanced monitoring tools to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks at the cluster, node, and query level.
    • Mentor junior team members on advanced query optimization techniques and distributed database principles.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery:
    • Design, implement, and test robust high-availability and disaster recovery strategies for production clusters.
    • Automate backup, restore, and failover processes to ensure business continuity and meet RTO/RPO objectives.
    • Provide expert guidance on replication strategies and data consistency models in a distributed environment.
  • Operational Excellence and Automation:
    • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code scripts to automate provisioning, scaling, and management of database clusters.
    • Implement advanced monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions to ensure proactive management of database health.
    • Lead adoption of DevOps and CI/CD practices for database schema changes and deployments.
  • Security and Compliance Leadership:
    • Define and enforce comprehensive database security policies, including encryption, access control, and network security.
    • Ensure all database solutions meet regulatory and corporate compliance standards.
    • Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments to maintain a secure database environment.
  • Mentorship and Collaboration:
    • Serve as subject matter expert on Azure Cosmos DB, providing technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams.
    • Lead design and code reviews, and help define technical standards and best practices for the organization.
