Job Opportunity:

Special Education Coordinator Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Coordinator to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with students having special education needs, providing targeted support to cater to their unique requirements.
  • Manage pre-primary referrals and play a key role in SEN admissions, ensuring seamless transitions for students.
  • Conduct classroom observations and informal assessments to identify areas of strength and weakness.

As a Special Education Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

Developing Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs)
  • Formulate and implement IEPs for all permanent cases in each term, tailored to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Prepare worksheets and teaching aids to achieve remedial goals and promote academic progress.
  • Evaluate IEP goals at an individual level as well as through exam papers and review sheets to ensure application of skills.

Additionally, your responsibilities will include:

Providing Intervention and Support
  • Provide intervention for academic as well as need-based counseling for referred cases, promoting emotional well-being and academic success.
  • Regularly follow up with teachers to monitor academic and behavioral progress of students, recommending strategies for improvement.
  • Guide Visiting Professionals (shadow-teachers) on a regular basis to ensure positive and continuous development in the child.

As a Special Education Coordinator, you will also be responsible for:

Assisting Students and Teachers
  • Recommend external assistance/therapies as per the students' needs, collaborating with parents and teachers to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Suggest exam provisions to parents as per individual student needs, updating teachers and grade coordinators accordingly.
  • Assist students availing resource intervention during secondary exam invigilation and primary reviews, providing additional support when needed.

Other key responsibilities include:

Training and Development
  • Train grade 3 teachers to implement first-level screening for learning disabilities through BCSLD checklist.
  • Conduct BCSLD and DTLD training of resource staff, ensuring they are equipped to support students effectively.
  • Conduct DTLD test with Grade 3 students, evaluating protocols and providing feedback to parents.

The ideal candidate will possess:

Qualifications
  • MA/M Sc / BA (Psychology) degree or equivalent qualification.
  • B.Ed certification or relevant teaching experience.
